Information for Staff

1. NCEA updates for 2024:

a. Literacy and Numeracy, Te Reo Matatini me te Pāngarau 

  • Alongside the five dedicated standards, additional standards can be used to achieve the NCEA co-requisite in 2024 and 2025 only 
  • This approved list of standards for 2024 & 2025 is now available on NCEA.education 
  • The approved standards reflect skills and competency in te reo matatini, pāngarau, literacy, and numeracy
b. Developing the new Level 2 and 3 standards
  •  The New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) Development -  in the process of developing NCEA Level 2. This includes Levels 2 and 3 Pacific Studies, and Levels 1-3 for 5 Pacific languages.
  • Subjects are being developed in 3 groups: Groups 1 and 2 were developed in 2022 and are undergoing review. Group 3 commenced development in late May, with Subject Expert Groups meeting face to face between 15 May – 9 June 
  • Te Marautanga o Aotearoa Development -  Level 3 Wāhanga Ako development is in progress for TMoA and Te Reo Māori NZC and Level 1 was reviewed in late May
2. Something to be aware of if you are speaking to a French speaker around the use of AI.....
