Information for staff

1. The effects of streaming in the secondary school on learning outcomes for Australian students – A review of the international literature (Johnston and Wildy, 2016). A very good reading and discussion starter outlining the impacts of streaming on different students.

2. Accelerating Student Achievement:
There have been a few questions around the idea of 'Accelerating student achievement' and what this means. This was also a particular focus from the recent ERO, and they are required to report on our data to the Ministry.
Accelerated learning is described as a learner's progress showing a 'noticeably faster upward trajectory than their previous learning; and is progressing faster than the expected rate of progress. It is about working with students who are at risk of underachieving and increasing the rate of progress so that more than one curriculum progression can be achieved in a year. If you would like to explore this more go to:

3.  Simon Sinek - Start with the Why - a good little example that uses the model created by Simon Sinek - linked to getting students to read.
