Information for Staff

1. From Michelle's email for Te Wiki o Te reo Māori -

Use The Kupu app available free from the App store. As you take photos of items, the word will appear in te reo Māori. You can also listen to the correct pronunciation.

Use the Māori dictionary to search for any word or phrase in English or te reo and listen to the pronunciation too.

When you are out and about, use the Arataki App to unlock stories based on your proximity to places of cultural significance.

Watch the creation story of Ranginui and Papatuānuku through augmented reality via the T.I.A app. Search "Māori cultural stories" in the Apple Store or Ngāti Whātua Ōrāmei in Google Play.  When you scan your surroundings, you choose a place for the 3D story to appear!

2. When you face a challenge that is difficult to overcome you can use this whakataukī. If a student is struggling to understand a concept, or finding a situation difficult, you can reassure them that although it is challenging, choppy, that they can achieve it by rowing through it and persevere.

He moana pukepuke e ekengia e te waka!

Even if the sea is rough it can be crossed by canoe

3. For those of you who like to look at statistics and see how the Education system in New Zealand compares internationally, education counts have just released their updated report - How does New Zealand's education system compare? OECD's Education at a Glance 2020

4. Something to think about for our school exams perhaps?
